About Dr. Craig

Meet Dr. Danielle Craig, M.D.

Board-Certified Psychiatrist | Women’s Mental Health & Reproductive Psychiatry

Dr. Danielle Craig is a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to caring for women through the deeply personal seasons of life that shape mental health—pregnancy, motherhood, hormonal transitions, loss, and the many responsibilities women carry for their families and communities.

Her passion for women’s mental health is not only professional, but personal.

As a mother of three, Dr. Craig understands firsthand the profound transformation that pregnancy and motherhood bring to a woman’s life. Alongside the joy of welcoming children, she has also experienced pregnancy loss, an experience that deepened her understanding of the quiet grief and emotional complexity many women carry. These experiences strengthened her conviction that women deserve psychiatric care that is both clinically excellent and deeply compassionate—care that sees the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

Life Transitions We Help Women Navigate

Specialized psychiatric care for reproductive seasons, hormonal transitions, grief, and the demands of family life.

Pre-Conception Planning

Thoughtful psychiatric support before pregnancy, including medication review, risk-benefit planning, and care coordination so you can enter this season with more clarity and confidence.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Care

The perinatal period brings profound hormonal shifts, sleep disruption, physical changes, and major life transitions. I provide specialized treatment for mood, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions during pregnancy and the postpartum period. My approach integrates psychopharmacology, lifestyle optimization, psychotherapy collaboration, and coordination with your OB/GYN — minimizing medication burden without compromising psychiatric stability.

Medication Management while Breastfeeding

I believe every mother should feel empowered to breastfeed if it is her desire. I will help you weigh the risks and benefits of medications and exposures to your baby and do all that I can to help you make informed decisions and navigate the breastfeeding journey that you desire for your baby.

Navigating Motherhood & Life Transitions

Motherhood introduces ongoing emotional, relational, and identity shifts. I work with women to restore balance in their mental and physical health while navigating the demands of family life. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, burnout, or chronic stress, your care is designed to help you function with clarity, resilience, and stability.

Infertility & Pregnancy Loss

Infertility and pregnancy loss can carry profound emotional and psychological weight. I provide compassionate, evidence-based support during seasons of grief, incorporating holistic strategies and medication management when appropriate.

Perimenopause

For many women the first signs of menopause approaching are psychiatric symptoms like irritability, insomnia, mood swings and these can occur 5-8 years prior to menopause, defined as 1 full year of no menses. I work with you to identify early perimenopause and utilize integrative approaches of nutrition, exercise, supplements and psychopharmacology as well as refer you for hormone replacement therapy when appropriate for management of this period of hormonal transition.
